Revenue Cycle Management

Challenge

A joint venture between the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and Optum. HAAD were building hospitals in Burjeel where we worked to produce a SaaS payment validation application. Encompassing a workflow element where administrators can delegate work to assistants and also get data back regarding late payments and performance. Providing healthcare software which managed how patients were insured and paid for treatment.

Our approach

We carried out competitor evaluation of existing revenue cycle management tools to understand how they work, critical functionalities, how they are used and where gaps existed in meeting the client’s needs. Our team worked in both America and Abu Dhabi to gather business goals and user needs, providing us a platform to deliver the right solution for all user types such as department managers managing a team of operators, operators, insurers and patients.

Uncovering use cases and workflows, which led to us producing functional architecture including testable prototypes. We tested user types under varying scenarios, replaying our findings back to our business sponsors and delivery partners.

We wrote epics and stories that were central to how the functionality of the application will be built.

We also worked with the QA team in testing the application in the staging environment, to ensure the integrity of the functionality.

Outcomes

We produced an evaluation report of existing software in the market. Highlighting both strengths and weaknesses, showing where gaps exist and how we can take ideas, validate them with the client and user types and build upon them. Allowing our team to incorporate the best industry ideas in this sphere.

We created functional prototypes which were successfully tested with validated user types, enabling us to get approval from the client where their key business goals have been met whilst moulding the very best front and back-office functionality into the application.

We worked centrally with the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi where they set out a schema for validating payment which all providers must comply with.

When we showcased the final application we got an ovation from the client, as we delivered a high-quality product that eclipsed their expectations. Through extensive testing we were able to deliver a successful functional and technical application.

Benefits

The application held compliance rules centrally, which ensured payments to providers were accurate and on time. Providing HAAD with cutting edge tools to manage healthcare payments for all hospital treatment in Burjeel.

We met every expectation and from back-office users, management to the end client they were extremely happy with the final delivery of the software.
