We carried out Service Design in a secure environment with consideration for the security process and protocols. We explored the end-to-end process of how data is observed, incorporated, cleaned and used by all interested parties.
We looked at the as-is processes, where legacy manual processes were used, and the cost in time and money. We held interviews and observation sessions with existing back-office users. mapping out data relationships, business and user processes and held user workshops, replaying outcomes that made their workday more efficient.
We prototyped a new back-office interface which provided a more informative and user-friendly way of carrying out existing, as well as more advanced tasks.
We produced a consolidated and integrated, data-cleansed solution which provides a clearer more detailed data profile which Digital Services at the Border can use to keep our borders safe. Using data from other sources to inform a fuller accurate picture of intelligence.
Enabled front-line officers and e-gates the data to minimise the risk from unwarranted visitors to the UK.
Removed the need to ‘swivel-chair’ between screens to either view or interact with data through one interface. Saved time with newly created automated processes and reduced actual cost to the organisation by reducing the number of consumables currently used.
Border control has a more complete picture of intelligence to make more informed and quicker decisions, underpinned by cutting edge technology.
