Architect a best in class IPTV solution experience, incorporating any innovative technology and functions possible. Create a solution that allowed the users of Quative’s IPTV set-top box to navigate and view programs using an EPG (electronic program guide), record programs and watch video on demand (VoD).
We researched the IPTV ecosystem, including the technology, functions and protocols in use. We examined the pricing structures and carried out competitor analysis. We interviewed engineers, business stakeholders and current set-top box (STB) users. We established the missing components and the required improvements of the IPTV experience and set about exploring what could be technically delivered. We architected, prototyped and thoroughly tested the EPG on the STB. Next, we did the video recorder and VoD modules, prototyping and testing them, ready for development. We researched the users desire to be able to access these functions through a mobile interface.
We delivered a comprehensive research report, followed up by a highly competitive UX solution architecture that allowed Quative to deliver an STB and a mobile phone experience. We architected, prototyped and tested a mobile version of the solution successfully and added it to the engineer’s backlog as an extension to the core STB code. We delivered a full set of user stories and acceptance tests.
A comprehensive IPTV set-top box user interface and the addition of a seamless mobile app gave Quative a significant competitor advantage. The client was extremely happy with the outcome and the additional features of the mobile app. They demonstrated this at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas to great acclaim and this led to the subsequent sales increases.
